AROBS at CeBIT 2002 - Hanover, Germany

- Press Release -

Between 13 - 20 March, AROBS Transilvania Software from Cluj-Napoca attended the CeBIT trade fair in Hanover, Germany. AROBS was one of the eight Romanian companies exhibiting in the Romanian booth, which was organized with the help of IBD Romania. The participation cost was 3000 EUR and this is only a part of the total investment a company must make to be present at CeBIT.

This is the second time AROBS is present at CeBIT (the first time was in 2000); the trade fair enabled us to establish had several contacts with companies from Europe, the USA and Asia and we hope that some of them will lead to long-term contracts. While at CeBIT, we have also promoted some of the products we have developed in the company.

The most successful was SqlXMail, a software application for direct marketing. SqlXMail, that will also have a German version starting with may 2002, was awarded at the Internet Application Section during Binary 2001, a fair organized by the Romanian Association for Software Industry and Electronics (ARIES). SqlXMail was offered for free to the Romanian Ministry of Technology and Communications.

Voicu Oprean, President at AROBS Transilvania Software, said: "Compared to the previous years, Romania was much better represented in 2002 and we noticed an increasing interest of the German companies in cooperating with Romanian companies, in spite of the worldwide recession of the IT market. Romania begins to be perceived as a valuable partner by foreign companies operating in the software field and we hope our country will become an Eastern Europe Silicon Valley."

As a conclusion, we can say that we were satisfied with the booth organization and we believe we will attend CeBIT next year too, probably with an individual booth.

AROBS in the GMU Incubator America Project

In his 2001 interview for the Business Review, Denny Robertson, the mission director to Romania of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) made reference the agency's commitment to helping Romania develop. Information Technology is the sector that will receive the most attention from USAID through some really exciting programs.
One of these aims at identifying innovative software companies in Romania and having them sent to the US to be part of a business incubator, thus extending their access to American markets.

"The first project, called GMU Incubator America, is to offer support for six Romanian IT companies: Insight Software, IT Systems. Softsourcing, Infopulse, Alfa-Global Solutions and AroBs Transilvania. The support offered means public and private partnership to assist these Romanian companies entering the American market, lowering customs duties and facilitating contracts with American companies. The two local partners for this project arc The National Association of IT (ANIS) and The Institute for IT (ITC)."
