Components of the Optimall System

Our solution is based on three distinct applications, all of which are necessary for it to run properly:

Those interested can take a look at the technical details on Optimall, which include the minimum technical requirements one must fulfill to successfully implement the system.

The PDA Application

A) Operating modes:

B) Modules of the PDA application:

  • The Clients Module
  • The Articles Module
  • The Payments Module
  • The Special Module

Further details on these applications and modules are available upon request

The Back-Office Application (Optimall PC)

This application runs on a PC, at the company's main office, and allows its user to:

  • Setup the mobile terminals (add, change and remove clients)
  • Allocate the daily routing (clients, visits)
  • Allocate the product/item catalogue to each agent in part
  • Allocate to each agent the series of invoices/receipts with which (s)he will operate
  • Apply filters for advanced customizations
  • Display orders
  • Track the orders and the received receipts
  • Track overdue bills
  • Itemize the client balance
  • Deliver particular reports (e.g. daily activities, per client sales, etc)

The Communication Application (Optimall Server)

  • connects Optimall PDA (the PDA application) with Optimall PC (the back-office application)
  • uses the Active Sync interface for the Pocket PC solution. This application handles data transfers between the mobile device and the PC
  • uses the Hotsync application for the Palm solution

The flow of data enabled by the Optimall Server follows the route:

Optimall PDA <-> Optimall Server <-> Optimall PC <-> ERP/accounting system

Technical Details

The Optimall system relies on a modular backbone that is flexible and adjustable. Here are its main features:

  • support for its integration with accounting and ERP applications
  • the availability of integrated modules for communication, for both Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN)
  • online communication through "General Packet Radio Services" (GPRS)
  • PDA terminals: PALMs with the PalmOS operating system or Pocket PC with the Windows CE operating system. These terminals are cost-effective and have multiple extensions, such as: industrial terminals, scanners for pentru bar codes, video cameras, GPS

Here are the minimum requirements for optimum operation:

  • A computer dedicated to Optimall back-office, with the following minimum configuration: PIII, 800Mhz, 128MRAM, port USB, CD-ROM, connected in the local area network, with the Windows XP/2000 operating system
  • A permanent Internet connection with another computer from the LAN (this one can have the Windows 98 operating system) for the Communication Server (for the On-line version)
  • Activated GPRS cards (for the On-line version)
  • One person allocated to the Optimall Back-Office application. This person will collaborate with the technical team from AROBS during installation and training
  • Mandatory attendance of training sessions for sales/merchandising agents
  • Technical support from the provider of the ERP solution used and/or of the accounting system (on an as needed basis).
